The Read-In-Club project was launched in Corfu

The READ-IN-CLUB international project aims to create a platform where book lovers and reading clubs can stay in touch even when a face-to-face meeting is not possible (e.g. because of a possible new epidemic).

The importance of this effort is shown by the fact that a good number of book clubs and reading circles have almost completely disappeared during the COVID closures. But book lovers and people who love reading are everywhere!

In June, the national teams of Greek, Cypriot, Slovenian, Croatian and Hungarian nationalities cooperating in the project had already met online, but the real project launch and face-to-face meeting took place only on 7–8 October in Corfu.

At the meeting, the international team compared the results of the preliminary surveys on the composition, functioning and aspirations of the reading circles in each partner country. In the Hungarian survey, we were able to interview 7 reading circle leaders and 25 members, and we also got to know a nice and cooperative supporting organisation, the Association of Reading Circles, which brings together Hungarian reading clubs.

At the meeting, the partners also agreed on administrative, management and dissemination tasks and prepared the ground for the next work package, which will include the creation of a project website and the production of online training material for club leaders in the languages of each participating country.
