Will the upcoming school year go online?

It has long been known that we are  only over the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic that unfolded in the spring, and the next, more serious pandemic was signalled to hit in the autumn by epidemiologists. However, emergency measures, which have been partially ceased after the virus receded, seem to be leading to a resurgence of the epidemic: the number of infected people is rising again in more and more European countries. Even if the situation in Hungary remains fortunate, some precautions have returned: travellers from countries classified as risky must be quarantined for 2 weeks, and in mid-July the government officially announced that mass events scheduled for August 20 would be dismissed, such like events of more than 500 participants.

The increasing caution also raises the question of running next school year that starts in just one and a half months, particularly because preparation for it will start in schools as early as August, so by then institutions will need to know what to prepare for. However, the issue of personal / school or distance / digital education has not yet been decided: all that is known is that, according to the current epidemic situation, the municipality of each settlement will have the opportunity to decide locally on the form of education.

What does this mean for those involved, notably educators and families? Most of all, they should expect to continue the distance learning introduced in March. It would be good if they could take time off during the holidays to improve the methods tested in the spring, to test the cooperation platforms, to get to know them better, to find out about the various software and educational resources, taking into account the feedback received at the end of the previous school year.
