Teach the internet to Grandma!

How many ways a smartphone can be used besides making and receiving calls can be taught to them most effectively by the “masters” of this art, who are today’s young generation in their teens or twenties: their grandchildren.

However, learning is not easy, especially when it comes to older people, so we try to help with this process through the BESS- Be Smart Seniors project and look forward to the interest of young people who would like to take part in this initiative.

A good foundation for teaching a grandparent is provided by the BESS website, where “Grandma Bess” asks questions about internet services in the instructional videos and her grandson answers. Videos will help them get started, but more complex applications will require personal involvement of young people.

By following the steps of the teaching according to the guide on the website, it is possible to systematically and clearly demonstrate the use of various tools and applications, for which the videos on the website and other functions of the site provide an excellent opportunity.

We ask for experiences of those, who undertook to teach their elderly relatives or acquaintances the knowledge that will make it easier for them to manage everyday jobs and keep in touch during the difficult days of the epidemic by responding an anonymous questionnaire at the end.
